CLASSROOM ETIQUETTE

Students are expected to hold a level of discipline while in class. These practices include but are not limited to,

• Entering the mat only with the professor's authorization.
• Taking your shoes off before entering the mats.
• Putting your shoes on immediately upon leaving the mat. This holds true even if you’re just going to the bathroom. This is to ensure the sanitary safety of all students of the classroom. 
• Keep fingers and toenails short and trimmed.
• The use of gym guidelines for uniforms for BJJ and NO GI classes.

UNIFORM POLICY

• Gi + Rash Guard underneath, no jewelry, and no zippers on leggings or rash guards.
• Students are required to wear rash guards with shorts in No Gi classes. T-shirts are not permissible.
• Do not wear the same gi for two classes in a row.
• If it is your first time in class and you do not own a gi or rash guard, please ask the front desk to assist you with a loaner uniform.

• Use respectful language and behavior, especially around minors. No curse/swear words allowed at the academy.
• Before stepping foot on the mat, make sure to have your entire Gi on as well as a properly tightened belt.
• Do not remove gi tops or rash guards on the mat.   
• Always respect your sparring partner and shake/touch hands before and after the roll.
• Only apply as much force as needed. Never intentionally harm anyone.
• Be on time to class. If you happen to arrive late, wait at the entrance to the mat till the instructor says it’s okay for you to join.
• Refrain from chatting while the instructor is talking.
• No cell phone on the mat during class.
• No picture or video taping the classes, just with permission of coach.
• No food or gum on the mat.
• When the instructor assigns a task, continue doing that task until the instructor says otherwise. You can never drill a technique too many times

Class is structured in a format where it is clear and concise for new students to not feel intimidated to start and for advanced practitioners to also learn new detailed techniques. 

Our goal at DIVISION ONE is to provide you with an experience where you, your child, and your whole family feels safe, and empowered to evolve your martial arts. Whether you're completely new or have been training for years, we hope to provide an experience where you're able to gain technical information in the art of Jiu-Jitsu while creating life long friends/ family members at the gym.
